Similar to Calphalon TempIQ/AmazonCommercial Barista Espresso Machine…but better & with an App.
Was given this as a gift for Father’s Day gift, it is a pretty great machine.
Connecting to the Smart HQ app is nice to set volumetric dosing for shots (only in ounces), grind time, and water temperature 194°F (darker roasts) to 208.4°F (lighter roasts).
You can also manually program as well.
The Grinder is only 15 LARGE Steps, but it still has the same range as similar models that have 30 Steps+. It is easy to potentially clog the machine, but it can be cleaned out with the brush and maybe a metal chopstick to break up any retained grounds. This machine has a lot of retention, explaining why they recommend weekly cleaning of the grinder.
The steam wand is POWERFUL, much more powerful than comparable models within the family.
Overall, this a very good machine with a high quality portafilter and heavy-duty metal tamper. Worth every penny.

Leaking from all possible places after 6 months of regular use
I purchased this machine 6 months ago and it’s been an extremely frustrating experience using this machine. I should not have gone for it after reading the reviews and should have returned it after using it the first time. I kept it anyway, thinking how bad could it be. I wanted to like it. Big mistake. Itâs bad. Very bad. I wish I could give this machine a negative 5 rating.
Now that it started to leak, I will be contacting support and sharing updates here.
Good:
1. Looks.
2. Large reservoir.
Bad:
1. It’s all plastic. Flimsy and poorly designed.
2. The grinder chokes every few days and needs clearing.
3. When the grinder works, it spills coffee grounds everywhere but in the filter. The minimum setting gives you ground coffee more than you can keep in the filter. You can’t get the perfect setting so you have to manually stop the grinder.
4. The pump keeps making a sound after you are done brewing. You will have to wait for some time before you can start frothing milk.
5. The coffee portafilters have sharp edges so if you want to remove the filter by hand you will have micro cuts on your thumb and finger.
6. There is always water under the drip tray, with every single use.
Not recommended at all.

Great machine. Buy it, but only if know how choose your beans first!
This is an amazing espresso machine with a decent integrated grinder.
The key is to choose medium roast coffee beans.. with no more than 3 weeks since roasted. Configure the grinder to the finest position and add between 17 and 17.5 grams of coffee. The timing depends on your ratio taste preference: ristretto 1:1-1.5 or espresso 1:1.5-2.5 or lungo 1:2.5-4.
Pros: Great value/money. Excellent heater. Good pump. Good grinder. Awesome design, quality and performance. So far, so good!
Cons: you cannot turn it on/off through the app or remotely. You have to heat up the portafilter pulling some hot water through it, which means more often cleaning up and descaling.
Sorry if the engglish wasn’t the best.
Hope you enjoy the video with the additional recipe of my favorite iced coffee in the video. Not my best espresso in that pull, btw.. but a decent one.
My ig @srmacchiato

So Far So Good (updated 5/21/23/
A couple things from a former Starbucks supervisor.
-There’s only so good you can get for semi automatics in my opinion. So if you’re extremely finicky about your espresso quality, you’ll probably want a manual machine and to drop quite a bit more cash. But I also think for practicality and speed semi automatics give you the best balance of both worlds.
-I actually found one of these available through Amazon but used for $300. Otherwise I’m not sure if it would be quite worth the dough. I hear better things about Breville for similar price ranges. For the $300 price point or on a sale it could be a decent buy.
-the ease of use for me is relatively high but I’m used to a much larger semi automatic and experienced. I highly recommend using the app to change your settings. I did have some difficulty getting the grind time to reset back to a normal time frame though. Not a big deal since it can be manually stopped in the meantime, but I’m still working out the kinks.
-It definitely takes time to dial in your preferred dosage etc but generally a finer grind is better for rich crema and if you like a stronger shot I would aim for a slightly higher grind time plus a slightly smaller water volume. Both can be edited via the app.
-For milk, less air added will create more of a latte microfoam, perfect for latte art. If you’re using a plant based milk like I prefer you may want to steam slightly longer to incorporate more air or let it rest a little. I prefer mixing plant milks such as almond/oat or coconut/oat to create a better texture for art and taste. To check temperature I usually put my fingertips on the milk pitcher, when it’s to hot to touch your milk should be close to if not completely done. You don’t want to over steam or it could affect the milk flavor.
-If you practice and watch some videos you can definitely get barista or coffee shop quality lattes out of this. To be honest, many baristas are not carefully trained or very interested in coffee to know the difference that proper steaming makes (speaking for SBucks which is like McDonald’s of coffee) so you might even find that you like your own coffee even better. I personally do. If you are lucky enough to have local baristas that actually know and love the art of coffee then this might not be the case.
-If you want a cappuccino style for milk then you want to pull the steam wand slowly higher towards the top of the milk to froth and incorporate more air compared to the latte foam. This is a true cappuccino which means more thick foam and not what gas stations call cappuccinos which is really just sugary coffee.
-15 bar is more than enough pressure to extract good quality espresso and more bars doesn’t always mean better coffee.
-If you like iced lattes then the main show is gonna be the espresso quality so really play with the grind/water volume/grind fineness settings till you get a good smooth shot. Also, the quality of your beans matters.
-If you like dark roasts them semi automatic machines are not the best actually because the darker oily beans tend to clog and damage these grinders quicker. My personal favorite is the blonde espresso or a good medium roast for these machines. Blonde is lighter in flavor but higher in caffeine.
-For a standard iced latte you will make the espresso, pour your milk from the fridge, and then add ice. This is the best order to ensure it mixes well and also is cold enough.
-If you want to be fancy and get a martini shaker you could use this for shaken espressos. Just never shake it without ice because the heat can create pressure and essentially a small explosion. New baristas have actually been injured because of this ð«£
-So far I like it but I’ll update more later. I’ve only made three lattes and each was better than what my local Starbucks 9/10 times (trust me I know them lol) and relatively good compared to other better small businesses. It definitely takes time though and I’m still fine tuning. Will update if something changes my opinion.
Update 5/21: oh boy, I really enjoyed this for about 20 days straight until the grinder issues started happening for me. This grinder gets clogged very quickly and easily. I’m thinking of buying a cleaning kit on here or abandoning ship altogether for a separate machine/grinder setup. The amount of time I spent cleaning this to get it functional again defeated the purpose for me of the day to day ease. If you do purchase I would say cleaning daily is probably best and getting a better cleaning tool than the one included which seems to be too short to properly reach if clogged. I had to use a metal straw and a vacuum which took considerable time. I originally gave up on fixing it via cleaning but then tried the metal straw method to finally fix it…. A little bummed because it is a beautiful machine but function is super important for me as I’m not a happy camper without my morning lattes.
If you do decide to purchase definitely purchase new if you can because Amazon isn’t able to offer exchanges for their used product programs. GE actually offered to help but since I’ve determined this is more of a mechanical/slightly common issue I’m leaning more towards a separate grinder/machine. Still really loved it while I used it. The grinder for me is the biggest drawback and probably where money was saved in the design. It’s difficult to get a good dosage as some have mentioned but the clogging really dampens the ease of use. I would love a better cleaning tool to be included at minimum. If you have this I would definitely recommend buying a cleaning kit now to prevent time consuming issues.

Better than the top Brands
The quality of the product is great. I purchased a more expensive expresso machine and had to send both of them back, they just did not work! The I purchased a cheap machine and returned that one too. Best machine ever.

Not what I expected
If you like drinking luke warm coffee then this machine is for you. They day 25 bars pressure and itslian design but this machine is very low pressure and heat. Couldn’t get a crema even after adjusting the temp in the app. The hottest it got was 130 degrees when set to 208.5 degrees. Buyer beware.

Best machine for home brews!
I absolutely love this machine!!! The first picture is a fresh pulled double espresso. The other two are with milk. It makes wonderful crema on top. Couldnât be happier. This is my second review. I wanted to add pics.
