It works, it’s fast, and it’s clean
Love the quality of life features and how easy it was to use. Top off the coffee on top, fill water, stick frother in, and make some sweet sweet coffee.
Also a wash feature to flush out and clean frother is a huggggge plus.

A Journey to Perfect Espresso at Home
When I first set up my new espresso machine, I was eager to see how it would perform. Right out of the box, I found it easy to use. The built-in grinder was convenient. I poured fresh beans in and pressed a button. Moments later, I had a warm cup of espresso.
At first, I struggled a bit with the manual. Some steps felt out of order, and I had to rely on online videos for clarity. I enlisted the help of a friend who had experience with espresso machines. Together, we learned about the milk frother and how to adjust the settings for grind size.
One evening, I decided to make a latte. Getting the milk frothed just right required some practice, but with patience, I achieved a beautiful creamy texture. I enjoyed experimenting with different milk options, including a barista oat milk for my allergy.
After a few weeks, I noticed the cleaning routine became second nature. The machine even prompted me for maintenance. Overall, it has turned my mornings into a delightful experience, transforming the way I enjoy coffee.

Be your own barista – create fantastic drinks with one touch; slight learning curve for the beginner
I ordered this with the appealing prospect of “automatic” and homemade cappuccinos and lattes with a built-in grinder. I’m on the beginner side of espresso skills, having used one type of machine a few years back. First, I highly recommend this espresso machine. With the push of one button, it makes terrific espresso, lattes, cappuccino, and other beverages. Plus, it conveniently grinds the coffee beans needed in real time per beverage. They can be customized as well.
Second, if you’re new to espresso-making, you’ll want to read the well-written and detailed users manual, and maybe bring in an experienced espresso-making friend for first-time operation support. Espresso brewing takes more care than brewing up drip coffee. I did bring in a friendly neighbor to make sure I properly washed the right pieces, fully understood the function and placement of the frothing piece, filled and positioned the water well properly, and to help me set the grinder and coffee-bean strength accordingly. Once I performed the first-use cleaning and made a few drinks, I felt much more confident about operating and cleaning up this very special machine.
Special good-news-for-milk-allergy note: Since I’m allergic to dairy, I used a plant-based alternative for the milk frothing feature. I’ve really missed having specialty drinks because of the allergy. You can use a “barista” version of oat milk (it’s well-marked) and you, too, can have those specialty drinks. This machine expressly (no pun intended!) mentions that this type of barista oat milk will work in their machine. And it did! And, darn it, I forgot to take a pix of the beautiful frothy cappuccinos I made!
I learned that a fine espresso machine takes regular care and regular cleaning to keep it functioning well (such as occasionally cleaning out the grinder and descaling the machine for hard water, which I have). The machine itself has built-in programming to let out some water before and after an espresso-making cycle, to self-clean its channels. This espresso machine comes with everything you need (except the actual coffee beans), from descaling liquid, frother assembly, hot water spout, to an extra frother piece, two informative manuals (one is for quick start), and even a hard water measurement strip. The machine possesses a narrow profile which is surprising considering all the features it offers, so it fits well on the counter. I like its easy-to-operate touchscreen. It weighs around 20 pounds — substantial yet manageable.
In summary, this machine is fun and rewarding to use. You can truly treat and impress your friends and family with this wonder machine that magically produces frothy specialty drinks or straight espresso with the push of a button. It certainly would make a terrific gift. I hope my “beginner” viewpoint in using this fully automatic espresso machine has been helpful.

A Coffee Lover’s Dream: The De’Longhi Magnifica Start Delivers Barista-Quality at Home
⢠Built-in burr grinder for fresh, perfectly ground beans
⢠One-touch recipes for various coffee drinks, including lattes and cappuccinos
⢠Easy cleaning with dishwasher-safe parts and automatic rinsing
⢠Customizable settings for personalized coffee experiences
Let me start by saying how much I love my DeâLonghi Magnifica Start coffee maker. Itâs truly a feat of engineering and delivers such elegant design and simplicity in operation. For a coffee enthusiast like me, itâs a dream come true. I had a DeâLonghi in the 90s that lasted for about ten years, and I must say, this is the coffee machine Iâve been waiting for during the âgap yearsââeven though I didnât know it. Never again with those single-serve coffee pods.
I thought I was doing well by getting a standalone burr grinder several months ago. But I usually got grounds on the counter when filling reusable cups or pouring into the French press. The DeâLonghi, with a built-in burr grinder, holds a generous amount of whole beans in its hopper, and the final results, whether âregularâ coffee or the more adventuresome Latte Macchiato or Cappuccino, are a single-touch wonder. They taste even better, with no brewing residue.
This 20-pound machine is thoughtfully designed with âfinger holdsâ on each side for lifting. It includes an easy-to-read color-printed quick-start guide. This is all that is required to make your first coffee drinks. âRecipesâ are pre-programmed for each drink type. The detailed manual delves deeper into all the functions and settings, including cleaning routines and disassembly instructions.
During startup, the coffee machine will produce a few quick bursts of water from the nozzles. Before making your first cup of coffee, donât place your mug until the lights are solid.
When the machine is shut down manually or using the auto timer, the spouts are rinsed with a couple of bursts of water.
Additionally, after making milk-based drinks, the machine’s menu prompts you to rinse the milk spout with hot water., which it does with one touch.
The milk container can easily be removed and stored in the refrigerator between uses. The milk bottle, drip tray, and used coffee ground containers can all be put in the dishwasher.
The height of your glass or mug canât be more than five and one-half inches without hitting the coffee spouts fully raised. My 12-ounce mug is just under 5 inches in height and is perfect.
With the coffee spouts lowered, they still clear my four-ounce expresso mug.
I tried the customized quantity setting, a nice feature: hold the recipe until it blinks rapidly, then press to stop at the desired amount. I wanted the Latte Macchiato to top the mug, but I ended up overdoing it (overflowing) as I had to stop frothing earlier. After a few tries, I finally got it right. It was a delicious caffeine experiment!
Note: If you get too deep into modifications, you can return the machine to factory settings by holding drink/recipe buttons 1 and 2 and the settings button simultaneously for five seconds.
Changing the settings at first may seem confusing, but the detailed manual explains that the buttons have multiple functions in the settings mode. It took me twice to increase the temperature, but now that I have it, the rest are easy!
The spent coffee grounds are handled masterfully. They are compressed into small âhockey puckâ shapes, making them easy to lift out and break apart around flowers that need it. Alternatively, you can dump the entire bin into the compost pile.
A minor quirk I noticed while making milk drinks can be easily overcome by ensuring the bean hopper and water tank is full before starting. I had to start over after frothing because the process did not begin where it left off after filling.
With your new barista skills, get ready to caffeinate your neighbors, friends, and family with your masterful latte art. They wonât know what hit them!
