Great espresso, coffee/latte/macchiato/flat whites + more with the push of a few buttons!
Great espresso, coffee/latte/macchiato/flat whites + more with the push of a few buttons! I was using a Moka pot for espresso and adding milk before and the flat whites are the best match for that (I wish there was a âdoubleâ Flat White option). Yum! Trying the other drinks and options and enjoying them all. Lots of customizations available. Milk frother good for making hot cocoa, too! Even used the bypass to have a nice de-café in the evening.
Delicious coffee/steamed milk drinks. Milk carafe easy to install and uninstall. Quick clean feature of carafe is nice to make sure pathway stays clean.
Takes a bit of extra room in front to pull service drawer and clear spent pucks/clean and on right side to access brew works for cleaning. But otherwise, cleanup is straight forward and relatively quick. I was surprised the machine did not come with the Intenza filter, as itâs even in the manual, but that is an expendable that needs to be ordered separately (done).

Beware of user errors leading to âissuesâ – this machine is fantastic
First off, I love this machine, it does what it advertises. The main reason for this review is to debunk some others who claim issues when in fact they are more the issue than the coffee maker. For example the milk carafe – it goes in one way, and one way only. Trying to put it in backwards (I admit itâs not totally obvious at first which way is correct) will lead to exactly the type of âissueâ mentioned in reviews about it not locking in place. Put it in correctly, and surprise surprise it works correctly. While a âsuper automaticâ, donât expect it to be super simple or there to be no maintenance – yes it makes the drinks on auto pilot, but not all the cleaning too. My advice is to take 10 minutes to read the manual, and save yourself from being an uninformed and unsatisfied user of this machine. Machine is great.

Don’t buy that !
The Downfall of Gaggia continue… 🙁 I bought this machine because when I was 16yrs old I had a manual Gaggia coffee machine. WOW the coffe was soooo good ! Sturdy machine… ok.. whatever. After that I bought a Delonghi automatic wich last…. a solid 10 years ! Good machine. I had to buy another one since the Delonghi was at the end of the road. I saw this Gaggia and … I said to myself… ok… at 43 it’s the time to return to this great coffee taste (the coffee is indeed really good !!) But… …. ALL THE DESIGN must be trash and redone from scratch ! At first the milk frother is a bit odd… SEVEN PARTS!!!! mostly unable to clean completely. Assemble, disassemble etc… on the medium run… it will not hold FOR SURE… And you cannot use the cup lifter when the milk jug is on the machine (wut ??). The milk frother is, by this glitch in the design, hyper messy. To load the water reservoir is a hard task if your machine is on your kitchen counter and you have cabinet over…. (yep they do a top water refill) instead of a sliding reservoir like most. After something like 10 coffee…. the grinder stop grinding…. no jokes ! Another stupid stuff… you cannot operate the grinder with the lid open (to see what’s happening) you have to find a very little magnet to bypass the sensor…. a pain !!! Good for us (in a way) the grinder never started again. We return the machine.
Don’t get full by the paid review on many website … this machine is the worst thing you can imagine as a coffee maker. Sad… the ONLY good point… the tactile screen, the taste of the coffee…. that is all !

Good super-auto but missing a few features
I’ve owned this machine for just around 3 months and it is great for hassle-free espresso and milk drinks. There are enough settings to play with (amount of grounds, volume of shot, amount and temperature of milk, etc) for customizing the drinks to your preference. Bear in mind that this is a super-auto, so there will be some compromises when it comes to the coffee quality. If you want precise control and barista-level coffee you want to look at semi-auto machines. Overall it’s a great machine but there are some serious cons that potential buyers may want to consider before making a decision.
Pluses:
I love the true double espresso shot feature, grinding and pulling 2 shots instead of using the same grinds twice to water down the espresso. I like the milk carafe feature, I’m not interested in a DIY milk frother/steamer especially when I’m caffeine deprived and bleary-eyed in the morning. I like that the drinks are clearly displayed and the menu is easy to navigate. It is compact enough to fit in a corner of my counter and under my cabinets without taking up too much space.
Caveats:
1) Milk carafe is not easy to clean. It has 7 parts (see pic) some of them require a bit of fiddling to dissemble and clean properly. It will get cruddy even if you quick clean it after every drink. I would suggest keeping the temperature at medium and a full cleaning every 2-3 weeks.
2) No profile feature. Unless you are the only one using the machine it can get very frustrating in a multi-person household to set up preferences only to have them rewritten by the next person using the machine. Considering that similarly priced Lattego 4300 has this feature (and the fact that Philips owns Gaggia, Saeco, and Philips brands) it is a definite letdown.
3) The small cup shelf cannot be used in conjunction with the milk carafe and it is extremely annoying to constantly adjust the cup for small-volume drinks. It is such an easy fix that I cannot believe Gaggia did not include a separate shelf.
4) There are a few other minor niggles that can’t be classified as cons but are worth noting for anyone considering this machine. a) The grinder has only 5 settings, I can’t say if it affects the quality of the espresso but if you prefer finer control you may want to look elsewhere. b) It does not come with a filter which is mildly infuriating considering it costs upwards of $800. c) The water tank is super fiddly, especially the handle. If you plan on regularly removing it to refill, there is a good chance it will break.

This is my personal barista…
The espresso machine is super easy to operate and maintain. Instructions are super clear. I love everything about the machine. It makes a variety of coffee beverages, allows for more ample beverage customization; strength, temperature, quantity, is easy to clean, and looks great in the kitchen. One minor thing is having to refill the water reservoir regularly, but it’s not a big deal. Excellent purchase. If you’re a coffee drinker, do yourself a favor and get one of these.
