Perfect expresso machine
I have been conducting an extensive search for an espresso machine that is user-friendly and capable of producing high-quality espresso, suitable for a novice like myself. After careful consideration, I have identified the ideal machine that meets these criteria. It is equipped with preset buttons for various coffee types and temperature control for milk, ensuring consistent and precise preparation. Notably, the three controls for steamed milk are particularly impressive, although I acknowledge that my lack of expertise, rather than the machine’s capabilities, is the limiting factor in creating latte art at this stage.
Furthermore, I have come to understand the significance of coffee grind size and intend to procure a manual burr grinder to enhance the quality of my espresso. Through continuous practice and refinement of my technique, I am confident that I will eventually achieve my goal of crafting the perfect cup of espresso.

Very good structural quality
First I want to tell those who classify this machine as a beginnerâs espresso deviceâ¦where in the hell do you get your egos? I just made an oleato and it is amazingly better than the 6$ one I usually get at SBâs. The steamer is easy to use, and the self cleaning function is very functional. So, ignore the ego maniacs who think that they are above the rest of us mortal and donât spend 2kBucks on something that wonât make better coffee than this one. Iâve been making cappuccinos and espressos for years and this machine is a winner. Ignore the coffee snobs, who obviously are legends in their own minds.

Watched the videos on Tom’s Coffee Corner, knew this machine was the one
I like medium to light roast low acid coffee. Smooth and does not hurt my tummy. With special beans, I need to make my own espresso drinks. Tom’s video compared the Delonghi EC950 with the Bambino Plus. Since I use light roasted coffee beans, it was the better option. I have a good coffee grinder. I measure out my beans and weigh them accordingly and dial for a finer espresso grind. I see the crema on top of the espresso without using the pressurized 2 cup filter. I used the regular 2 cup filter. My first try was perfect. Love it. Only problem is after 5 pm, I should not have a second double espresso. I want one though. For my Cappuccino, I did use the auto milk frothing. I wanted a foamy milk and so I used the 60c temp with dense milk setting. For milk art use the milk temp of 65c and Latte Art fine milk froth setting. Delonghi has milk froth videos for this machine. I recommend going to YouTube and watching Tom’s Coffee Corner. He has several espresso machine reviews for more affordable machines. He also has some great beginner “how to videos” which helped me make the best espresso drinks out my new espresso machine. Today was my day off and so I watched videos and experimented. So much fun making some good drinks. I will be up late tonight for sure!

Easy to use espresso machine
I have used the De’Longhi Dedica Maestro Plus for about 3 months, after replacing an older espresso machine. The machine comes with 4 baskets, 2 that are pressurized, and 2 that are not. Each type has both a single and double shot basket. I have only used the non-pressurized baskets – they do require a little more effort and experimenting to get the grind size correct, but they are easier to clean than the pressurized baskets.
One thing to be aware of with this machine is there is no method to dispense hot water; the steam wand only does steam. If you only do espresso, and milk based drinks, this is not a problem. If you make Americanos, then this could be a problem. What I do is just put water in the frothing pitcher, set the temperature to high, and use the steam wand to create hot water. It works fine. (If I need a lot of hot water, I use an electric kettle.)
The steam wand offers various settings for foam, etc, when using milk, and it works reasonably well. The self flushing feature of the steam wand is also nice. You can also use the steam wand manually, if you are really picky about the consistency of your steamed milk.
On the whole, it’s a nice machine. It can handle reasonably tall coffee mugs (but probably not travel mugs), and also espresso cups with an included attachment.

Disappointed
This is a sturdy, elegant appearing espresso machine that makes good flavored lattes or cappuccinos. However, the water tank is larger than necessary, making the machine larger and heavier than it needs to be. Hottest settings for foam and espresso do not provide a hot enough result without preheating cup, espresso receptacle, etc, manually, or reheating in my microwave. Steaming device is awkward to use because there is no flexibility in placement and one has to hold the on switch the entire time it is steaming the milk.Coffee measurer is also awkward and bulky. I had the smaller Delonghi espresso machine which wore out after nine years of daily use. It still made perfect lattes but leaked. I wish I had just replaced it instead of thinking I deserved an upgrade.which overall is more cumbersome.

Defective
Returned after 1 week for multiple defects including an underside leak and a sporadically functional on/off switch. Fortunately we just upgraded our kitchen outlets to GFI as this machine could have been dangerous. Espresso was great but machine poor design.

Sólo una observación: el portafiltro ya viene con un filtro puesto (no me di cuenta y estuve intentando meter otro por 30 min jajajaja). El papel para medir la dureza del agua viene en el manual. Cette superbe cafetière vous permettra de réaliser immédiatement d’excellents expressos, cappuccinos, mochaccinos, etc. Les vidéos sur YT permettent de comprendre les différentes options de contrôles. Elle permet de mousser le lait très facilement autant en mode automatique que manuellement. De plus les tiges parallèles (mousseur et thermométrique) sont très faciles à nettoyer (en fin de cycle, le mousseur se purge de lui-même, ce qui est très apprécié). Les bruits non négligeables de fonctionnement et les sifflements du mousseur sont tout à fait normaux contrairement à ce que certains novices ont pu écrire. Elle est de loin supérieure à ce que j’avais connu jusqu’ici. Je vous la recommande très fortement. Beau travail De’Longhi, la Dedica Maestro Plus EC950M est une réussite.
