Very pleasantly surprised
Ordered this grinder around 3 hours ago after my old Cuisinart grinder died. Outstanding service Amazon!
NOTE: I am NOT an ultra coffee aficionado. I love coffee and do what I think is reasonable for me to make consistently good coffee. I’m also fairly frugal. I’m not going to spend more than $150 on a grinder. After reading many reviews of some of the highly touted grinders, I couldn’t pull the trigger on any of those more pricey units (e.g., Bartaza, Fellow, etc.). They all had reports of the device failing rapidly, getting clogged regularly, etc.
Perused other Amazon options. Saw this model on sale with very positive reviews and rapid delivery (did I mention the Cuisinart broke??). Took a chance…I’m very glad I did!
The unit is compact, well designed, reasonably quiet, and works well to produce a course grind (which is what I was looking for). I’ve been making cold brew almost exclusively for the past several years. Unfortunately, the Cuisinart grinder was never able to produce larger grinds. It was OK, but not ideal. It also produced a lot of fine, powdery coffee bits that would result in a fair amount of sediment in the resulting coffee. Again, not the end of the world, but it’s the grinder I had when I started making cold brew, so I put up with it.
This little grinder is smaller, quieter, faster, and grinds coffee into a size that fits what I’m looking for. It also easily opens to allow cleaning. I’m just getting started with this grinder, but so far, it’s been a very pleasant surprise.

All around great product with one minor personal suggestion
I had a Cuisinart coffee grinder, 6+ years old, that kept grinding progressively slower. My wife has her own Cuisinart grinder that’s 3 years old and still working fine. I purchased the sowtech after reading reviews and I really like it. It grinds fast, faster than the Cuisinart. The grind is uniform to the adjusted size, filter, espresso, drip etc. It is quiet! The Cuisinart is so noisy when it grinds that I couldn’t use it early in the morning without waking anyone still trying to sleep. I would take it into the garage to grind coffee to reduce the impact of its sound. I nick named it the wood chipper. The sowtech is a purring cat compared to the wood chipper. My only wish was that the hopper that holds the beans was a larger capacity. This is a personal issue and not a complaint as I knew it’s size before purchasing. All grinders including this one generate a lot of static charge in the grinds. The sooner you pour the grinds into your filter the bigger the problem will be. The static charge causes grinds to repel each other and some fly off to counter tops etc. This effect is reduced by waiting awhile, tapping the grounds container before removing it from the unit or adding a few drops of water to the beans before grinding. My prefered method is to set the filter in the kitchen sink before adding the grounds so any wayward grounds are no longer an issue. Bottom line this grinder is worth every penny. I would buy another.

Should I or Not buy this thing?
I’ve had all kinds of bean grinders and really like this one….It’s fairly quiet, compact in size, grind is consistent, easy to use and I really don’t want a large hopper for storing beans….It just takes up room. I rarely use the timer to grind because it’s not really a good gauge in grinding the exact amount of beans to cups of water. In order to make sure the amount of beans I grind is consistently correct….. I weigh the coffee beans 1st time on a gram scale…..So next time you will know how many beans it takes for the next pot. Just dump them in a press the button…..The plastic collection box does produce some static but this is no big deal to me…I don’t have any complaints at this time so we’ll see. Good luck and hope this review will help with your next brew.

Finally – a wonderful decision.
It took months to finally decide on a burr grinder, and I’m so happy to welcome this one onto the kitchen counter. It’s been phenomenal – just, phenomenal – how positively this affects the taste of our brews and also the workflow overall. We mostly French press, so we use a high (large-grain, 35-38) setting, and set it to 5 seconds for one cup (I’d say 10-11oz of coffee) or 10 for two with our current medium-roast bean. The shaded, smaller reservoir makes me feel good about storing beans up there for a couple of days; yes, maybe trading convenience for freshness, but I haven’t noticed any degradation in the taste during the beans’ multi-day residence in the reservoir. We don’t roast our own nor buy very expensive beans, so the window of taste is already limited. I’m not pressed. Only French-pressed.
Moving on, the grinding is ein bisschen loud, as it shall be without using a hand-grinder, but it’s fast and doesn’t wake others up despite living in an American house made of paper machê. It’s consistent, cleaned with a few taps and a puff of air (close your eyes if using mouth-air…), compact, customizable, and cool. I think this little dude truly resides in the subjective sweet spot on the 4D graph mapping price, quality, longevity, and non-craziness all together.

Certainly works
The grind is great, nice not to have to stand there holding the button like my last one. Noisy as a mad hen and it does have some static issues, but I can live with those as long as the grind is good. I have a percolator, a K-cup style and I carry a french press in my travel bag, gives me good grinds no matter which I’m using.
