Rich, velvety, low acidity, different roasts have different level of bitterness. For all sorts of coffee lovers. The set also represents a good opportunity to choose your favorite roast. And the guests too can pick whatever they like – to be “picky”. And one of the most important features – it is much less expensive than the original brand.

Of the two flavors tried, one’s a dud and one’s quite delicious
So, I just ordered the variety pack that comes with 10 flavors that the company ranked from 4 beans to 8 beans; three 8-bean flavors (Roma, Milano, Venezia), one 6-bean (Sumatra), five 5-bean (2x Columbia, San Marino, Napoli, Bologna) and one 4-bean (Torino); tried two flavors so far, the Torino and the Roma.To give this the fairest chance, I used the regular espresso function, not the lungo on my little nespresso machine. As a point of reference, I have tried a couple of brands including Nespresso, Peets, and some lesser known competitors on Amazon. I normally drink my cafe black using the lungo setting, or au lait using the aeroccino without the frothing wire.The BadTorino – Torino came out thin as if I had accidentally used the Americano setting (not lungo, but americano) even though I’m pretty sure I used the standard espresso setting. The taste was strong but not in a good way, it was all bitter. I wanted to return the whole box based on this one, but luckily tossed in the Roma to give it a second chance. I might be able to salvage this by making mocha “fraps” with chocolate ice cream.The Good:Roma – I’m glad I didn’t base my opinions on this brand just on the Torino, because the Roma redeemed the variety pack. The Roma tastes very similar to Peets 9 to 10 range pods, or Nespresso in the 8 to 9 range. Very rich but not as thick. Nice crema. Slightly more acidic and bitter, but not distractingly so. I might be able to get way with a lungo next time.Bologna – For a ‘5-bean’, this was surprisingly good, much better than the Torino. Still a little thin or watery, but a least the flavor is there. Drank some straight before adding milk from the aeroccino. Looking forward to testing the San Marino tomorrow.Packaging – The packaging was excellent. I love the tiny cubes that take up less space and go easy on the cabinet.As I’m doctor-limited to just 1 cup of coffee a day, I’ll update this over the next few days as I sample the rest. So far, this has potential, if the worse (Torino) is behind me. Hopefully the rest are more similar to the Roma. 4 stars for now, based on price and the Roma balanced out by the Torino.

Decent coffee – works well with Nespresso
I ordered the variety pack so I could try most of the brews. The quality is good and the capsules have worked flawlessly with my original Nespresso. I was not particularly enamored by the taste of the coffees. The only one I really liked was the Sumatra, but I also prefer strong roasts so someone else will likely find them to be excellent. It works as a less expensive option, but overall I prefer Nespresso brand pods.
